Gary learned the art of woodworking from his father who was a master craftsman as well. Through the years Gary has developed his own style, focusing on his love for wildlife. He creates all the patterns himself, using many more cuts and pieces than he originally learned. Gary's work can range from hundreds to thousands of pieces of wood that he collects from around the world. He also uses no paint or stain, preferring instead to let the wood speak for itself.
Gary’s love of wildlife has been a lifelong passion, which prompted him to start the Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND. During his 35 years at the zoo, Gary was involved in every part of the zoo's design, planning and construction. Working in his wood shop has given him another outlet for his creative talents and is far less physical labor.
Being a dog owner and knowing how pets become a part of the family, Gary has been creating woodwork for pet owners to remember their best friends forever. It is sincerely heartwarming to see the emotional response of the customers upon receiving their commissioned artwork.
